Austria
|
|
Austria, located in Central Europe, is officially known as the Republic of Austria. Austria has a social market economy, similar to Germany, and a very high standard of living. Germany was once the main trading partner of Austria and, therefore, the economy of Austria was vulnerable to any changes faced by the German economy. But, after Austria joined the European Union, it developed closer ties to other EU economies and, hence, reduced its economic reliability on Germany. Becoming a member of the EU entailed huge benefits as the membership attracted a flood of foreign investors. The euro was introduced in Austria in 2002. |
